The year-round sun and the constant wind make Jeri the best place for water sports such as wind-surfing and kite-surfing. In particular, the most recommended period is from July until the end of December, where the wind blows with an average ranging from 15 to 35 knots.
The windsurfing area is located in front of the village of Jericoacoara, on the main beach, while for the practice of Kitesurfing, the closest point is immediately after the Por do Sol dune.
Immediately after the dune there are several points, accessible from the leeward or with a stroller, such as Mangue Seco, the Guriu lagoon and the Tatajuba lagoon. On the other side of the dune you will meet the points of Preà and Barrinha.
The most spectacular thing is to return to Jeri downwind from these last two points during the sunset. Your mind will collect images of the coast that you will never forget.
In Jeri there are schools both to take lessons and to rent equipment, and for that and for the organization, because we are a family of kiters and surfers, we are happy to help you!
We want to reassure the kiters that the lack of practicality of the place immediately in front of Jeri beach is rewarded by the trip to other places, totally experiential and deserving to be lived!
Jericoacoara is the best windsurfing spot in Ceará, and perhaps in Brazil..
Fortaleza already is known to be a place of strong wind, as it receives trade winds that blow from the African continent, but Jericoacoara really makes a difference. One of the factors that helps explain this phenomenon is its geographical position. While the coast of Cearense has an SE-NW orientation in most of its coast, in the Jericoacoara region, the coast is parallel to the equator, in the EW sense, and parallel also in the direction of the trade winds as they pass through Jericoacoara with all their strength, since they do not meet the natural obstacle formed by the continent as in most of the coast.
